With a lot being discussed about Dr. Rajan Mahtani and Zambezi Portland Cement Factory in the past few days, it is time to clear all the doubts. On August 18 2015, the news portals were flooded with a news that had shocked the nation. It was being circulated that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is no longer a part of ZPC and his name has been removed from PACRA’s register.

However, things became crystal clear when it was learnt that the Ventriglia family had played a dirty game by altering the records with PACRA. One of their lawyers, Zacharia Muya, had forced a junior officer at Kitwe Office of PACRA to make changes in the records of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory without obtaining a prior approval from the court. Later on, when PACRA came to know about the incidence the changes were immediately reversed and the name of Dr. Rajan Mahtani was once again put on the register.

The incident has clearly shown an alarming level of corruption which the Ventriglia family can produce. This is not the first instance where they have mocked the law and have tried to manipulate things according to their own benefits. In 2012, the Ventriglia family has already faced a deportation which was lifted in February 2015 under mysterious circumstance. The fight of the ownership of Zambezi Portland Cement Factory has given them a chance to loot the second largest cement factory in Africa and abuse their powers through harassing existing employees and making offshore transfers.

As the per latest record of PACRA, the shareholding structure remains as earlier- the Ventriglia family has a stake of 42% and Finsbury Investments holds its designation as the owner with 58%. The contest for ownership is still in dispute and remains to be decided under Cause No. 2008/HPC/366.
