One of the top businessmen and philanthropists from Zambia, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, has supported the recent announcement made by the Zambian President. On the occasion of the ‘Africa Day’ President Hichilema made an important announcement that he is planning to abolish the practice of death penalty complete. This decision has received widespread support from Zambia as well as across the globe. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the owner of several companies in Zambia. He is also known for his philanthropic contributions such as the Prison Fellowship Zambia. It was established more than three decades ago, and Dr. Rajan Mahtani is presently the Chairman of this noted Christian Outreach Program. The Prison Fellowship has several objectives including providing transparent criminal justice, ensuring prisoners are treated with fundamental human rights and dignity as well as ensuring that the gospels of Jesus Christ reach the prisoners and transforms them.
As such, Dr. Rajan Mahtani and his organization Prison Fellowship Zambia will be rallying behind the President’s Decision. Prison Fellowship has pledged its full support towards abolishing death penalty by providing tangible support in establishing legal reforms. Dr. Rajan Mahtani praised the decision from the Zambian President and stated that only an individual who is compassionate, respects rule of law, respects need for fundamental rights and human dignity as well as a person who is God loving will be able to make such noble decision. Adding voice to the President’s cause, Dr. Rajan Mahtani stated that the consensus towards abolishing death penalty across the globe as well as across Africa and Zambia has increased significantly. As such, the announcement made by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema was not only bold & unwavering stance, but it was also a way of ensuring God’s reward towards blessing the people of Zambia as well as Zambian nation.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani further applauded President Hakainde for doing what previous presidents were unable to make and extended his full support towards this cause.
