When it comes to business, very few people in Zambia are as active as the chairman of the Mahtani Group of Companies, Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The slightest of opportunity gets converted into a handsome deal when Dr. Mahtani is one of the parties who is entertaining the deal. An exclusive example of his ability was displayed when MGC entered into a deal with the Sunbird Group to setup a new bio-ethanol plant in Luapula province.

According to the deal, the two giants would work on a project in the Luapula province where cassava will be used as a basic input to produce green energy. Moreover, the locals will also have an opportunity to get employed as 2, 000 direct vacancies are on offer. It is a well-known fact that presence of a factory in any region results is wide scale development of the area. Ranging from direct employments to indirect employment, almost every person in the area gets involved with it. Therefore, it is evident that the unemployment rate in the area will face a dramatic fall.

The estimated value of the project is close to USD $150 million and the project is scheduled to start in November 2015. This deal as come as a blessing in disguise for the locals. Sources, claim that an additional employment of 5, 000 workers will be made through indirect means.
