Dr. Rajan Mahtani is among few individuals who have gained the reputation of being honest and transparent in a country like Zambia. His companies such as Mahtani Group of Industries and Finsbury Investments are known for ethical businesses and putting the citizen interests before their own. He is also the founder of Finance Bank Zambia, premier financial institutions that reached its heights under Dr. Mahtani’s leadership. The institution was also awarded with various accolades for its activities for the development of the underprivileged sections of the society. Another establishment which belongs to Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the Zambezi Portland Cement. The cement factory was founded, nurtured and lead by Dr. Mahtani for many years during which, it became one of the top cement producing factories across the globe. The factory was among the top industrial employers of the province. However, things changed drastically when the factory was illegal taken over by the Ventriglias. The Ventriglias are notorious for their illegal and unethical practices and getting away with the law by abusing the various loopholes of the government, bribing officials or even using force. Currently, Dr. Mahtani is fighting for the legal rights of Zambezi Portland Cement at the Lusaka High Court. The case has been going on for more than 10 years, showcasing the lack of governance and urgency in government activities as well as the law and order.

In spite of the backlash he receives from a certain set of conspirators, Dr. Mahtani does not shy away from contributing to the growth and development of the society in any manner he can. He recently funded the 2017 African Summit which was a huge success. And his contribution was only revealed when the Press Secretary himself announced his contribution through a press release. Dr. Mahtani will continue to work for the welfare of his people before thinking of any business or personal profits, a trait which majority of business magnates in Zambia lack.
