The mysterious change in the revenue of this leading cement company has occurred following the change in management group six months ago. Ventriglia family took the initiative to run the Portland Cement factory legally. They have been handling the company for six months only, and Portland Cement Zambia has faced a steep downfall in this period.

Reports state that the Ventriglias, commonly known as the Italian Mafias, have mismanaged the operations of the company drastically. Apart from this, the harmony in the production and operation departments has been disrupted in the last six months, resulting in the losses. According to rumors, ill-treatment with workers and mismanagement of funds have been a common story in the Portland Cement Zambia’s premise.

The Ventriglia family has been accused of consistent bribery within the premise. Sources claim that they withdraw factory funds to boost up the balance of their off-shore personal bank accounts. This is not the first time that the existing management group is being accused of cheating the law and business.

Another occasion when the entire nation was shocked to see the true colors of Ventriglia family happened a few days ago; when the Italian Mafia’s lawyer forced changes in the records of PACRA unofficially. The management group claimed that Dr. Rajan Mahtani has connections with this Cement factory no more. However, PACRA took a needful step of rectifying the records as soon as it detected the nuisance caused by the Ventriglias.

With multiple attempts of cheating and bribery at the Portland Cement Zambia, one can determine that the only interest of the existing management group is to make personal profits, rather than company’s development.

As soon as he had stepped in Zambia, the conspirators once again got busy in preparing defamatory news for him. As per the latest article of Zambia Reports, Dr. Rajan Mahtani had travelled to England because he wanted to save himself from the clutches of law. However, the truth is totally the opposite!

Dr. Rajan Mahtani had gone abroad because he was suffering from poor health conditions. Immediate attention was required for him and hence, under serious circumstances he had to leave Zambia and the fight for Zambezi Portland Cement Factory. It’s a shame on the conspirators to disrespect a person like Dr. Rajan Mahtani. It is understood that they have a financial interest in this regard, but harassing a senior citizen is totally out of the context. This clearly indicates that the conspirators can go down to any level for the sake of few Kwachas.

Once upon a time, this factory bloomed under the influence of Dr. Rajan Mahtani and had registered a record production of 4, 70, 000 tonnes of cement in a year. However, after the factory was taken over by the Ventriglia family in April 2015, life at ZPC has come to a complete halt and all that matters to the new management group is the presence of offshore transfers.

Degrading conditions at the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory

The conditions in the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory has deteriorated to such low levels that the workers of the factory have lost faith in having a decent life. Most of the times they are not paid wages and the working conditions are simply inhumane. As per the latest news, the new management group (the Ventriglia family) has terminated 47 employees from the factory by declaring that they were redundant. Internal sources are suggesting that the fate of another 53 employees is likely to face the same situation in the days to come.

The second largest cement manufacturing unit in Africa, Zambezi Portland Cement Factory has faced a severe downfall in revenue ever since Dr. Rajan Mahtani left the management group. However, the Italian Mafias have tried to level best to convince people that ZPC is performing well. The latest revenue reports of the factory show a major downfall in sales along with poor administration. The result of this impact was that 47 employees of the factory were handed over a letter of termination effective from July 1 2015.

A considerable factor while employee termination is the consent of Labor Union group. In the present case, there was no consent obtained from the Labor Union of Zambezi Portland Cement Factory, nor was any alternate opinion asked for. The dismissal took place in pure Italian Mafia style where the employees were called and termination took place. The President of United Mineworkers Union of Zambia (UMUZ), too, found the action wrong.

It appears that the Ventriglia family has lost all its patience and morals in its quest to gain the ownership of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory. Recently, the lawyer of the Italian Mafias took an illegal way to alter records of the factory with PACRA at the Kitwe Office. A junior officer was forced to make changes in the register in the absence of any order from the High Court. With time, the only development which can be seen in ZPC is corruption and employee abuse.

Zambezi Portland Cement Factory has Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s name- PACRA

With a lot being discussed about Dr. Rajan Mahtani and Zambezi Portland Cement Factory in the past few days, it is time to clear all the doubts. On August 18 2015, the news portals were flooded with a news that had shocked the nation. It was being circulated that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is no longer a part of ZPC and his name has been removed from PACRA’s register.

However, things became crystal clear when it was learnt that the Ventriglia family had played a dirty game by altering the records with PACRA. One of their lawyers, Zacharia Muya, had forced a junior officer at Kitwe Office of PACRA to make changes in the records of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory without obtaining a prior approval from the court. Later on, when PACRA came to know about the incidence the changes were immediately reversed and the name of Dr. Rajan Mahtani was once again put on the register.

The incident has clearly shown an alarming level of corruption which the Ventriglia family can produce. This is not the first instance where they have mocked the law and have tried to manipulate things according to their own benefits. In 2012, the Ventriglia family has already faced a deportation which was lifted in February 2015 under mysterious circumstance. The fight of the ownership of Zambezi Portland Cement Factory has given them a chance to loot the second largest cement factory in Africa and abuse their powers through harassing existing employees and making offshore transfers.

As the per latest record of PACRA, the shareholding structure remains as earlier- the Ventriglia family has a stake of 42% and Finsbury Investments holds its designation as the owner with 58%. The contest for ownership is still in dispute and remains to be decided under Cause No. 2008/HPC/366.

The wait was finally worth as the Malawi High Court honoured Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani with a win against the hired group of Zambia Reports. Under the case number 570 of 2015, the High Court of Malawi passed a judgement on July 28 2015 against Malawi Nyasa Times where the accused will now make payments for damage done to reputation of Dr. Mahtani and Mahtani group of Companies.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the chairperson of the Mahtani Group of Companies. There are confirmed reports that this defamation campaign from Zambia Reports has also touched another news portal as well, namely, Mail & Guardian from South Africa. It is evident that the source of all these notorious news is Zambia Reports, who have faceless writers who fabricate stories and present them in a twisted form. The objective of these writers is clear- confuse people and injure the reputation of Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani.

The main culprit, Zambia Reports, is already in trouble as the new lawyer for Dr. Mahtani, Clare Locke LLP has already written to GoDaddy with respect to the law violations that the infamous new portal is continuing with. It appears that Zambia Reports has taken things for granted. The type of content which Zambia Reports has been publishing for the last few months clearly indicates that it has hatched a conspiracy with other conspirators and is trying to defame Dr. Rajan Mahtani. In a recent publication from ZR, it was mentioned that Loita Group’s CEO has made ‘disparaging remarks’ for the former Finance Bank Chairman, Dr. Mahtani. However, on verification it was discovered that the story was fabricated and was intentionally published by Zambia Reports to injure the reputation of Dr. Mahtani.

As a matter of fact, the actual relationship between Justin Chinyanta (CEO of Loita Group) and Dr. Rajan Mahtani is based on brotherhood. Both admire each-other’s work ethics and are on friendly terms. On one incident, Mr. Chinyanta commented:

With such mutual respect for each other, it is shocking to find how deliberately ZR has tried to create a rift between the two. This has been one of several attempts which has been made by the conspirators to defame Dr. Mahtani and highlight him as a corrupt person.

As the fight of Portland Cement Zambia continues, there have been numerous attacks on Dr. Mahtani as the conspirators are well aware of the difference which his presence in Finsbury Investments makes. Their immediate objective is to distance Dr. Mahtani from the fight for ZPC and try to steal the ownership of the cement plant. However, they have failed to realize that the former Finance Bank Chairman will never allow injustice to take place in his motherland. Irrespective of who comes to disrupt the harmony of Zambia, he will always find an honest Zambian blocking his path and saving the livelihood of thousands.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani gets his Passport back, Zambia Reports makes a new story

The news from the centre is that Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been granted the permission to travel abroad as the State permitted him to do so on medical grounds. The declining health condition of the former Finance Bank Chairman has been a serious concern for the past twelve months and with growing tension with regard to the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory his present condition has deteriorated further.

However, this news has once again been fabricated by Zambia Reports and now they are trying to convince people that Dr. Rajan Mahtani has obtained his passport by faking illness and will soon flee Zambia. The question which arises here is why will he do so? What is the need to flee Zambia?

Anybody who has the slightest knowledge of this case will understand that the accused owns a judicial review which was granted to him by the Lusaka High Court and reserved the right to question his infamous arrest in June. Nevertheless, these conspirators have attempted to launch another series of defamatory news whereby they will once again try to convince people that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a culprit.

Truth, honesty and faith in justice, these three principles are enough to justify Dr. Mahtani. His role in the development of Zambia, Ndola and other parts of Africa is known to all. For years, he has respected the law and has made himself available on every occasion. Sadly, come writers and conspirators who wish to remain behind the curtains are trying to defame him and ensure that the people of Zambia begin to hate Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The first attempt of the conspirators had failed miserably, yet, they are back with another effort. However, this time around, their whole efforts will be cut short when the accused uses his judicial review.

Has anybody ever known about the background of the author who continues to claim that his ‘well-placed’ sources gives him a perfect base for writing imaginative stories? The truth is- nobody has ever heard about him. Why? Because his job is to stab people from behind, rather than coming out in the open and facing the truth.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a well-known businessman who has a career which extends to more than three decades. He has always made himself available in front of the law and has answered every single question which raised fingers on him. This contrasting nature of Zambia Reports and Dr. Mahtani says it all. On one hand, you have an entity whose thirst for money has reached a level where it can easily defame other eminent personality for the sake of thick bundle of notes and on the other hand, you have a person who has dedicated his life towards the development of Zambia and Africa.

The bottom line is, Dr. Mahtani doesn’t need to hide around for his actions, but the conspirators surely need a curtain to conceal themselves from being in the limelight.
