The Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference for the year 2021 was successfully concluded. The event saw participation from several great personalities, businessmen, and visionaries from Africa. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was one of these personalities. Dr. Mahtani is a noted philanthropist and businessman from Zambia who was invited to the event as an honorary speaker. Unlike previous FIN conferences that took place in New York, this roundtable conference was held virtually as a result of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. However, this did not dampen the spirit of the event that saw participation from international community members, spiritual leaders, religious leaders, political leaders, entrepreneurs, media partners as well as international investors.
Another event that increased the popularity and success of the FIN event was the addition of the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony. The best of Africa awards are among the most prestigious and notable leadership and philanthropy awards across the globe. The awards are given to leading lights in the field of business, philanthropy, and leadership. Furthermore, the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards hold a high reputation due to their association with Forbes, a leading magazine across the globe. Forbes is known for generating world-famous lists and rankings and therefore, the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award winners receive significant national and international exposure. Similarly, both Forbes and FIN go through a rigorous yet transparent process for selecting the recipients. The process involves verification processes and background checks that go on for months. This is followed by individual interviews and discussions with the potential recipients regarding their views on philanthropy as a means to achieve long-term empowerment across the African nation.
Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was not only invited to the FIN event as an honorary speaker but he was also selected for one of the Forbes awards. Forbes recognized the contributions of Dr. Rajan Mahtani towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia and conferred him with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021.
